About Irfan Kiani.

Irfan Kiani grew up in Rawalpindi and began his training in classical music under the mentorship of Ustad Faiz Ahmed Khan. He later refined his skills in songwriting and music production under the guidance of renowned composer Wajid Ali Nashad.

Nashad introduced him to live recording sessions in the film industry, where Irfan developed a lasting interest in the science and craft of audio recording.

After completing his bachelor's degree in engineering from UET, Irfan chose to pursue music professionally alongside his sister, Hadiqa Kiani.

Music remains a strong family tradition: Hadiqa Kiani is his sister, and Eva Kiani is his daughter.

Irfan began performing at the age of eight as a child singer on Rung Barangi Dunya, a children's music program broadcast on PTV and hosted by renowned film composer Sohail Rana.

In 1979, he participated in the International Children's Festival in Jordan alongside Adnan Sami Khan. He later studied music mixing and mastering under M. Iqbal Asif, Chief Engineer at EMI.

Irfan was also part of the renowned Pakistani band The Jupiters, which released three albums featuring a different vocalist on each.

The success of Raaz marked the beginning of a long creative partnership between Irfan and Hadiqa Kiani. The album was among the early Pakistani pop releases to feature Eastern classical instruments at a time when the genre was dominated by Western instrumentation and production.

His recording method captures the raw character, texture, and fine detail of traditional South Asian instruments before integrating those performances with modern production. This balance preserves the identity of the instruments while allowing them to sit naturally within contemporary arrangements.

Irfan's work is defined by experimentation, reinvention, and the integration of varied musical traditions. His knowledge of Eastern and Western music led to senior roles as Content Head of Music and Senior Music Consultant at major media houses for more than a decade and a half.

His continuing study of Eastern classical and Western contemporary music, studio acoustics, recording, mixing, mastering, and multiple instruments has established him as a musicologist as well as a producer.
